Giorgio Franchetti, beyond the collecting, dedicated much of his time to music, a passion he inherited from his mother and shared with his brother Alberto, who accompanied the baron in his countless peregrinations in Europe, Florence, London, Rome and Venice.
His beloved friend Ugo Ojetti wrote that he loved to ask his friends to a tea at his house in order to devote them the notes of great composers, taking care to the piece of music’s execution insomuch as his talent was universally recognized: “He played as an angel”, said Ojetti, making a comparison that, in addition to being a reference of the skill of his friend, also alludes to the invisibility of the angel, which is comparable to the will of the Franchetti to blur in with the spirit of the composer.
