The 12th edition of Venice Design Week makes a stop at Ca’ D’Oro, in the prestigious palace where Galleria Giorgio Franchetti is located. Overlooking the Grand Canal, the building is one of the best examples of Venetian architecture, once covered with gold trim. Today it is a state museum that houses a precious art collection and opens its doors to DESIGN X ALL – this is the theme around which the week dedicated to design asks participants to reflect. The project supports “Guests in the Gallery“, an exhibition review of the Museum, created to enhance and better contextualize the works of the permanent collections of Ca’ d’Oro by placing them in dialogue with masterpieces of other museums connected to them. The visit also includes the possibility of visiting the exhibition Canaletto incontra Guardi.

Everyone will be able to visit the installation Insula_ dei Luminari, conceived by the studio di_archon associati, whose research between art, architecture and design is focused on the relationship between ancient and modern. For the occasion, Stevan Tesic and Milena Veljkovic have inserted in the space some illuminating objects – the Luminari, the luminous emanations in an almost musical spatial sequence, of implicit but silent theatricality waiting for the visitors, of whom they are an abstraction and a prefiguration.
The work was created with the intention of experimenting with the condition of perpetual impartiality between space and time, investigating the extent to which this pre-established supremacy can be challenged through action, the presence of light and shadow, sound and words. The light emanating from the Luminaries amplifies presences even in empty spaces. The shadow softens forms, questions, subtracts and expands.

The lights of the Luminaries are three:

  • Light on the Ground _ of Leaning
  • Light on the Face _ of Seeing
  • Light from a metaphorical well _ of recognizing oneself

Time, drawn and sculpted by their reciprocal postures, is suspended in a perennial geometry of golden grace.

These are the spatial revelations of ephemeral balance in continuous visual transformation in the relationships of the works of the Ca’ d’Oro Museum exhibited on the walls.

Observers and Works, and so on to infinity.

Designers: Arch. Stevan Tesic and Milena Veljkovic

In their projects coexist cultural elements and assumptions that evolve, synthesize and express the complexity of their dual course of conception in architecture, art and design. Their research and creative production, in terms of synthesis of plastic arts, evolves in relation to various scales and contexts of application in the fields of design: urban, architectural and artistic, finding its ground in the historical and cultural ideas of the avant-garde in architecture and art of the twentieth century.
